Are you coming to Lanzarote, and are you looking for the best way to make the most of your trip? Visiting La Graciosa is a great plan to do on your visit to Lanzarote:

La Graciosa, the eighth Canary Island.

The island of La Graciosa, with paradisiacal beaches, is considered 'the pretty girl'. White sandy beaches, red and yellow volcanoes, and not a single asphalted road. It could be the wildest habited island in the Canaries. So, without a doubt, we had to create this magnet.

The island of La Graciosa, known as the eighth Canary Island, is part of the islands and islets that make up the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park.

“…Visiting the island of La Graciosa is one of the great plans to which you can dedicate at least one day of your trip to Lanzarote …”

Although it may seem like a tiny island, the fact that there is not a single paved road means that getting to know it, and above all stopping to enjoy it in its entirety, is complicated if you only dedicate a day to it.
So, if you only have one day and you want to see everything, I recommend you take the off-road taxis. They stop at the most important island points, both north and south.
The northern route ends at Las Conchas beach, undoubtedly one of the most incredible beaches I have seen in all the Canary Islands.

Las Conchas beach owes its white colour to the millions of broken shells mixed with the sand. The views of the Roque del Oeste, Islote de montaña Clara and Alegranza make it one of the most impressive beaches of La Graciosa.

The southern route will take you along the paradisiacal beaches of the east coast until you arrive at the colorful and unmistakable Yellow Volcano, where you will find the beach of La Cocina.
The beaches of Salado, Playa Francesa, and Playa de la Cocina are incredible, not only for being solitary, quiet, and wild but also for the imposing views of the Risco de Famara. On the island of Lanzarote, this cliff is so close that it almost seems as if you can touch it. It even gives the feeling that it could be part of the island of La Graciosa itself.

Did you know that there is an open water swim crossing between Lanzarote and the island of La Graciosa? It is about 2,600 meters in open water and is held once a year.

If you are lucky enough to have a couple of days on this paradisiacal island, I would recommend renting a bike, at least to visit the north of the island.

What to do for two days on the island of La Graciosa

A day's cycling in the north of La Graciosa:

On the way there, stop at the beach of Amber and then at the viewpoint of Baja de las Majapalomas

When you reach Las Cochas beach, it's time to relax.
Admire the views of the neighboring rocks and islets, and go for a swim, always being careful as the sea here is dangerous. On the way back to Caleta del Sebo, you can stop at the charming village of Pedro Barba.

Walking in the south of La Graciosa:

On the second day, you won't need your bike, as the distances to the south are not as long and the roads are much sandier, so in this case, the bike would be a hindrance.
It takes 15 minutes to go from Caleta del Sebo to Salado beach. Then, 25 more minutes to Playa Francesa, and finally, 20 to 25 minutes to Montaña Amarilla.
This whole route is full of huge white sandy beaches, rarely crowded, and incredible views of the Famara cliffs. And if the conditions are favorable, you could also surf along this coastline.

For the more adventurous and trained, there are routes to cycle the entire island of La Graciosa in a single day.

My experience visiting La Graciosa island

I found the south of La Graciosa an incredible place to explore, but do take sunscreen and something to cover yourself as you won't find any shade during the entire tour.
I cycled the north of the island and, I think it was one of my best cycling experiences. I'm not much of a cyclist, so I rented an electric bike. And take it from me, it's well worth it if you want to enjoy the scenery while doing a demanding route.
The best thing on the island was to climb Montaña Roja from Las Conchas beach. We climbed the volcano in about 10 minutes, and if the views of the islets are incredible from the beach, from the top of the volcano, you'll be left speechless.

Finally, if you want to end your visit to La Graciosa truly spectacularly, make your return to Lanzarote coincide with the sunset. One of the most incredible things you will see onboard a boat.

Now you know the best way to visit the island of La Graciosa and what to do there. But if you want to know other plans to make the most of your trip to Lanzarote, you can visit the guides and plans that I tell you on the blog.

White beaches with turquoise waters, a yellow volcano, little white houses, local fishermen and, of course, the Graciosa hat, are the elements that, without a doubt, could not be missing in this magnet. A souvenir to take with you the exciting experience of visiting the island of La Graciosa.
